Established in 1883 under the leadership of Rev. A. L. Hawkins, Bell Missionary Baptist Church has stood as a beacon of faith, hope, and community resilience in Montgomery, Alabama, for more than 140 years.

Our church played a critical, historical role during the Civil Rights Movement. During the Montgomery Bus Boycott, dedicated church members stepped up bravely to provide essential community transportation.

In early 1957, our sanctuary was targeted tragically and destroyed in a civil rights bombing. Under the unwavering leadership of Rev. Uriah Fields, the congregation united to rebuild, completing our historic brick sanctuary on May 10, 1958.

Today, our rich heritage continues to be honored, including the official placement of a historical plaque by the Alabama Department of Archives and History Historical Marker Committee.

We move forward into the future under the pastoral guidance of Pastor Rev. E. C. Huntley and Co-Pastor Rev. Lena W. Huntley. We continue to serve Montgomery with the same courage and faith that defined our founders.
